Grid Network

PSciGrid is established by creating a network among institutions that have existing computing cluster facilities like U.P. Computational Science Research Center, the Ateneo de Manila University – School of Science and Engineering (AdMU - SOSE), the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services (PAGASA), and the Advanced Science and Technology Institute (ASTI), where the PSciGrid Operation Center is housed. The physical link for the network is provided by the Philippine Research, Education and Government Information Network (PREGINET). It is through the PREGINET network facility that inter-operation within the PSciGrid network like simultaneous computing, data and storage sharing among the collaborating institutions and users are actualized.

UP CSRC

The University of the Philippines - Computational Science Research Center (CSRC) is one of the fruits of the Research Computing System project of UP and DOST-ESEP in 1992. UP-CSRC was built to become the center for high performance computing at the university by providing computing facilities and services to various research institutes in the UP-College of Science like NIMBB, NSRI, NIP, NIGS, MSI, IESM, IC, IM, IB. The UP-CSRC's services also extends to researchers of other universities and government agencies. Some of the notable researches in the college that benefited from UP-CSRC's high performance computing facility are in the fields of Bioinformatics and Physics.

UP CSRC is a major partner of ASTI in establishing the PSciGrid infrastructure. Its high performance computing facility which is made up of 32 Intel Pentium 4 nodes (3.2HGz), is a significant part of the platform of the e-Science grid network that is created under the PSciGrid program. The UP-CSRC facility would significantly contribute to the pool of data capacity and computing power in the network.

AdMU SOSE

The Ateneo de Manila University - School of Science and Engineering (AdMU SOSE) has establish a computing cluster infrastructure and developed applications that are used by the various science and engineering departments within SOSE’s umbrella. The departments of Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, Physics, Information Systems and Computer Science, Environmental Science, Electronics, Computer and Communications Engineering employ the computing facility in their respective research projects like climate, pollution, and biodiversity, etc.

AdMU SOSE is a part of the prototype of e-Science grid network. The encompassing pool of data and computing infrastructure of SOSE will prove to be a substantial facility to the Grid project.
